Question : Station Redevelopment Project Scheme

(a) whether the Government has entrusted Rail Land Development Authority for implementation of station redevelopment projects scheme across the country including West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab;

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the salient features of the scheme;

(c) whether the Government has decided to renovate the railway stations in the country under its railway stations redevelopment programme through leveraging of commercial development of vacant land/air space in and around these selected stations;

(d) if so, the details thereof, State-wise;

(e) the number of stations being considered for renovation and redevelopment, particularly in West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab; and

(f) the new initiatives/steps taken by the Rail Land Development Authority during the last three years?

JAYANTA KUMAR ROY TO BE ANSWERED IN LOK SABHA ON 15.12.2021 REGARDING STATION REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT SCHEME

(a) to (f): Yes, Sir. Government has entrusted Railway stations to Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) across the country including in the States of West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab for conducting techno-economic feasibility studies for development of stations.
Two stations viz., Gandhinagar Capital (Gujarat) and Rani Kamalapati Railway Station (Madhya Pradesh) have been developed and commissioned. Sir. M. Visvesvaraya Terminal (Bengaluru) is ready for commissioning. Work is in progress at five stations viz., Ayodhya, Safdarjung, Bijwasan, Gomtinagar and Ajni. Techno-economic feasibility studies at other stations are under various stages.
The features proposed in a developed station include congestion free non-conflicting entry/exit to the station premises, segregation of arrival/departure of passengers, adequate concourse without overcrowding, integration of both sides of the city and with other modes of transport systems viz. Bus, Metro, etc, wherever feasible, user-friendly international signage, well illuminated circulating area and sufficient provision for drop off, pick up and parking etc.
Ministry of Railways is exploring various possibilities to develop Railway Stations under different models based on techno-economic feasibility studies.
Six stations in West Bengal, twelve stations in Uttar Pradesh and four stations in Punjab have been entrusted to RLDA for conducting techno-economic feasibility studies.
RLDA is taking various steps/initiatives to develop railway stations under different models.
