Question : Green Highways Fund

(a) the detailed plan outlay of Green Highway (Plantation and Maintenance) Policy, 2015 along with the areas covered under this policy particularly North Eastern Region;

(b) the aims and objectives of setting up of ''Green Highways Fund'' in the country along with achievements of such aims and objectives so far;

(c) the details of the corpus of the ''Green Highways Fund'' along with its utilisation so far, as on date;

(d) whether the cases of violation of contracts/MoU by the implementing agencies with respect to plantation or maintenance of plantation along the National Highways have come to the notice of the Government since setting up of the said fund and if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor; and

(e) the other steps taken by the Government to ensure plantation and maintenance of plantation along the NHs in the country?

(a) to (c) Green Highways (Plantation, Transplantation, Beautification & Maintenance) Policy, 2015 has been formulated to develop eco friendly National Highways with participation of the community, farmers, NGOs, private sector, institutions, government agencies and the Forest Department for economic growth and development in a sustainable manner.

(d) No such case has been reported.

(e) Tree plantation and its maintenance along the National Highways is part of highway development activities. Plantations are done as per Indian Road Congress (IRC) Manual and Standards for 2/4/6 laning highway projects.
