Question : NH network in Punjab

(a) the length of the total National Highways (NHs) network in the State of Punjab;
(b) whether any new NH has been recently sanctioned for the State;
(c) whether the Government has approved contruction of any expressways in the State and if so, the details thereof;
(d) whether the Government has any plans to construct more NHs especially in border districts like Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur etc.; and
(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a) The total length of National Highways (NHs) network in the State of Punjab is 4082 km.
(b) Yes Sir. Four new NHs in total length of 428.97 km have been recently sanctioned for the State of Punjab.
(c) Yes Sir. Construction of two expressways in total length of 370.58 km has been approved in the State of Punjab. The details of these expressways are at Annex-I.
(d) & (e) The development/declaration of new NHs is a continuous process depending on the requirements, inter-se priority and availability of funds. Recently, new NH-503D starting from NH-3 (near Beas) to NH-354 (near Dera Baba Nanak) and passing through Baba Bakala and Batala in the border districts of Amritsar and Gurdaspur has been notified on 16th October, 2020.
