Question : Increasing Number of Patients at AIIMS

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) whether the number of patients coming for treatment in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi is increasing day-by-day in spite of setting up of new AIIMS across the country;

(b) if so, the steps being taken by the Government to reduce the increasing number of patients;

(c) whether the Government has any proposal to organise any programme to create credibility of newly constructed AIIMS hospitals in the country among people; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): Yes. The Government has taken a number of steps to augment tertiary care facilities in addition to setting up of new AIIMS like institutions such as strengthening Super Specialties in Government Medical Colleges; and setting up of State Cancer Institute and Tertiary Cancer Care Centres in Government Medical Colleges.

(c) & (d): Public lectures are oganised to spread awareness. In addition facilities available in the Institutes are also displayed on the website of the respective AIIMS
