(a): The Food Corporation of India (FCI) has a total of 55 storage godowns in the State of
Orissa (23 owned and 32 hired ) with a total storage capacity of 4.38 lakh MTs. Out of these,
5 godowns owned by the FCI and 14 godowns hired from the Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC)/
State Warehousing Corporations (SWCs) are in the KBK districts. The details are given at Annex-I.
(b)&(c): During the Xth Five Year Plan (2002 - 07), the FCI proposes to construct its
own godowns at certain centres in the State of Orissa. In addition to this, the CWC and SWCs
have been requested to construct storage capacity under the Seven Year Guarantee Scheme, in KBK
districts. The details are given at Annex-II.
(d): In view of the above, question does not arise.
