Question : Transport Facility to Nuclear plants

(a) whether the Government formulates any scheme for means of transport to ensure easy access to nuclear plants;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government proposes to connect Rawatbhata atomic power station with four lane road or rail network;

(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the time by which it is likely to be considered; and

(e) whether the Government proposes to set up any atomic power station in Uttar Pradesh and if so, the details thereof along with the locations identified for this project?

THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR PERSONNEL, PUBLIC GRIEVANCES & PENSIONS AND PRIME MINISTER’S OFFICE (DR.JITENDRA SINGH):

(a)&(b)The various aspects related to access to the site including roads for transport of over dimensional and heavy equipment and emergency planning are studied at the site selection stage itself. Requirements for their augmentation if any, are taken up with the national / state authorities.

(c) There is no proposal at present to connect Rawatbhata Atomic Power Station with four lane road or Railway Network.

(d) Does not arise in view of (c) above.

(e) There is presently no proposal under consideration of the Government for setting up a nuclear power station in Uttar Pradesh.
