Question : SALE OF SURPLUS LAND



(a) whether the National Textile Corporation (NTC) has decided to sell off its surplus land in various States;

(b) if so, the details of the surplus land identified and the steps being taken for its disposal , State-wise;

(c) the total amount expected to be realised by the sale of surplus land, State-wise; and

(d) the purpose for which it is likely to be utilized ?

(a): Yes sir. BIFR has sanctioned Rehabilitation Schemes for sick subsidiaries of NTC envisaging funding of these schemes through sale of surplus assets.

(b) & (c): The state-wise details of surplus land and amount expected to be realised from their sale is given in Annexure-I. The assets are valued by independent valuers and sale is being undertaken through Asset Sale Committees formed under direction of BIFR.

(d): The amount would be utilized towards expenses on VRS, statutory dues, modernization etc.
