Question : AIRLIFT DUES FOR USE OF DEFENCE PLANES



(a) the total outstandings receivable from the persons/organisations for using defence Aircraft, case-wise;

(b) the measures initiated to recover the dues and the results achieved therefrom during the last two years;

(c) whether any civil suits have been filed for recovery of the dues against the defaulters;

(d) if so, the details thereof;

(e) whether the Government propose to amend rules to bar the persons from contesting elections on account of outstandings payable to Government of India as well as any other State/local Governments; and

(f) the steps being taken to take advance payments for using defence Aircraft in future to avoid such lapses?

(a) & (b): The total outstanding receivable from persons/Organisations for the use of IAF aircraft as on 31.3.2001 is Rs. 146,93,79,172. The user agencies are being regularly requested by Air HQ and Ministry of Defence at the appropriate level for early clearance of the dues. As a result, an amount of Rs. 169.41 crores in 1999-2000 and Rs. 130,25,04,060/- has been received during the year 2000-2001.

(c) Yes, Sir. Three Suits have been filed against Shri Chandrasekhar, Shri PV Narasimha Rao and Shri HD Deve Gowda, former Prime Ministers.

(d) The details of recovery suits filed against the former Prime Ministers are as under:-
