Question : Promotion of Solar Energy

(a) the details of the schemes of the Union Government in conjunction with the State Governments for promotion of solar energy in the rural areas of the country particularly in Fatehpur Sikri;
(b) the details of similar schemes for the promotion of use of solar energy in the urban areas;
(c) the details of the special promotional schemes/ opportunities available exclusively for the use of the farmers; and
(d) the amount of subsidy provided for the users for the said purpose?

(a) & (b) The Government has launched various schemes for promotion of solar energy in rural and urban areas of the country including in Fatehpur Sikri. Details of schemes for installation and use of solar energy systems in rural and urban areas are given at Annexure.

(c) & (d) Ministry has issued approval for implementation of Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyaan (PM-KUSUM) Scheme in the country on 8.3.2019, which provides for:

i. installation of 10,000 MW capacity through renewable energy based small power plants each of capacity up to 2 MW in the rural areas;
ii. installation of 17.5 lakh standalone off-grid solar water pumps; and
iii. solarization of 10 lakh existing grid-connected agriculture pumps.
Under the Scheme, for installation of stand-alone solar pumps and solarization of existing agricultural pumps, central financial assistance (CFA) of 30% of the benchmark cost or tender cost, whichever is lower, is provided to farmers. The State Government will also provide subsidy up to 30% or higher. Further, CFA of 50% of the benchmark cost or the tender cost, whichever is lower, will be provided in case of North Eastern states including Sikkim; states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand; UTs of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh; and island UTs of Lakshadweep and A&N.
