Question : Rural Roads in Andhra Pradesh

(a) whether the Government has received a request from the State Government of Andhra Pradesh for increased allocation of Rural Roads from 3285 km to 6135 km.

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government is likely to accede to the said request; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (d) The Government has approved phase-III of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) with an aim to consolidate 1,25,000 km Through Routes and Major Rural Links connecting habitations, inter-alia to Gramin Agricultural Markets (GrAMs), Higher Secondary School and Hospitals across the country. The State of Andhra Pradesh has been allocated target length of 3,285 km under PMGSY-III. A proposal was received from the State of Andhra Pradesh for revision of target length from 3,285 Km to 6,135 Km. The national target of 1,25,000 Km was fixed by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA). State-wise targets, including the target of the State of Andhra Pradesh under PMGSY-III have been decided applying the uniform formula for all the States, no change is proposed at this stage.
