Question : Selling of Crude Oil to PSU Companies

(a) whether the Government has directed the ONGC to sell its crude oil to other PSU oil companies for another year; and
(b) if so, the objectives of this order of the Government and the extent to which ONGC is likely to lose profits by not offering its crude oil in the open market?

(a) & (b) The allocation of indigenous/domestically produced crude is done by the Government of India annually to Public Sector Refineries to meet domestic demand for petroleum products. Presently, as per Crude Oil Sales Agreement entered by ONGC with Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies, price of domestic crude produced by ONGC is linked to international price of benchmark crude.
