Question : BIFURCATION OF DELHI POLICE



(a) whether the Government have decided to bifurcate duties of Delhi Police at Police Station level into investigations and maintenance of law and order;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the benefits likely to be accrued to the common people as a result of introduction of the said system?

(a)&(b): It has been decided in principle to functionally separate crime investigation from law and order functions by providing at the Police Station level adequate number of dedicated Investigation Teams which are properly equipped and manned by personnel trained in the field of investigation.

(c): The availability of such dedicated Investigation Teams is expected to improve the quality of investigation.
