Question : Tiger Deaths


(a) the number of tiger deaths reported by National Tiger Conservation Authority during the last three years State/UT-wise; and
(b) the schemes being implemented by the Government to increase forest cover in cities during the said period?

(a) The details of tiger deaths as reported by States, during the last three years are at
Annexure-I.

(b) To increase forest cover in cities, Nagar Van-Udyan Yojana is being implemented by the National CAMPA Advisory Council (NCAC) from Compensatory Afforestation Fund, since 2015 as a pilot scheme. An amount of Rs. 5124.05 lakhs has been released to 46 approved projects under Nagar Van-Udyan Yojana during the year 2015-2018. The scheme Nagar Van-Udyan has been restructured during the year 2020 and now implemented as Nagar Van Yojana (NVY), for creation of 200 ‘city forests’, primarily on forest lands, in cities having a Municipal Corporation or Municipalities over a period of five years (2020-21 to 2024-25).
