Question : Construction of Ropeway to Gwalior Fort

(a) whether the approach road towards world famous archaeological site-Gwalior fort is extremely inaccessible;

(b) whether the toxic smoke of petrol/diesel vehicles running on the road is decaying the hundreds of years old innumerable idols of Jain Tirthankars engraved
on mountains that is highly revered by Jains and which also have archaeological heritage value;

(c) whether a ropeway is being constructed to Gwalior Fort after getting the NoC from National Monuments Authority with a view to checking the decay of these idols;

(d) whether the construction of the ropeway which was going on at snail''s pace has been stopped since the last one year;

(e) whether the Government will take cognizance of the matter and take up the matter with Madhya Pradesh Government and Gwalior Municipal Corporation
with regard to early completion of ropeway in Gwalior in order to ensure conservation of archaeological heritages of India and development of tourism; and

(f) if so, the details thereof?

(a) No, Sir. The Gwalior Fort is easily accessible by a motorable road.

(b) No Sir.

(c) Yes, Sir. The National Monuments Authority has issued ‘No Objection Certificate’ for this Project.

(d) The Project has not yet been completed.

(e)&(f) Construction of Ropeway is subject matter of the State and Central Government is supportive in this regard.
