Question : AUTOMATIC CURRENCY EXCHANGE MACHINE AT IGI



(a) whether Automatic Currency Exchange Machine has been Installed at Indira Gandhi International Airport;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the name of currencies that can be exchanged there;

(c) whether this facility is proposed to be extended to other International Airports in the country; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) :- Yes, Sir. The Automatic Currency Exchange Dispenser installed in the Customs Arrival Hall of Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), Delhi is under testing and is likely to be made available for use of passengers by December, 2002.

(b):- The currency dispenser is a quick and convenient way of changing money. The dispenser accepts over 15 currencies in different denominations, and dispenses Indian rupees.

(c) & (d) :- On satisfactory performance of the dispenser installed at IGIA, Delhi Airports Authority of India plans to take up the issue of installing similar facilities, with the agencies who are operating money exchange counters at other international airports.
