Will the Minister of CHEMICALS AND FERTILIZERS be pleased to state:
(a) whether some pharma companies are making huge profits on medicines and medical equipments;
(b) if so, the details of the actual production cost and the MRP that is printed;
(c) whether the Government intends to stop such malpractices;
(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; and
(e) the steps taken by the Government to provide medicines at affordable rates to the people?

(a): No such data is available with the Department as the ceiling prices of scheduled drugs are fixed on market based data.
(b), (c) & (d): In view of reply to (a) above, does not arise.
(e): The Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013 contains provisions for fixing ceiling prices of scheduled drugs/ formulations and also monitoring for the prices of non-schedule drugs/ formulations.
