(a) whether a number of families displaced on the implementation of Rengali Multi-Purpose Project in Orissa; and

(b) if so, the steps taken by the Government to provide suitable rehabilitation to them?

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF WATER RESOURCES (SHRI JAI PRAKASH NARAYAN YADAV)

(a) As per information received from Government of Orissa, 11289 families were displaced on the implementation of Rengali Multipurpose Project in Orissa.

(b) Following steps have been taken by the Government of Orissa to provide suitable rehabilitation to the displaced families.

i) Out of 11,289 displaced families (DFs), 11,107 DFs have received rehabilitation assistance. 5064 DFs have received the rehabilitation assistance in the shape of land, 3830 in the shape of cash and 2213 received both land and cash in lieu of land.

ii) 3489 DFs have resettled in 61 colonies, 3737 in 95 clusters and rest have self relocated in 485 revenue villages.

iii) Infrastructure facilities for provision of drinking water, irrigation, communication, drainage, electricity, education, health etc. have been provided to the colonies and clusters.

iv) Village Development Committee and Women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) have been formed through the Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) participation.

v) Under economic remuneration, women SHGs have been provided with revolving fund @ Rs.10,000/- per each SHGs. 100 SHGs have been linked with different financial institutions and they have received the aggregate credit upto Rs. 19.00 lakh. Sapling of fruit bearing trees have been provided to 202 SHGs for backyard plantation.

vi) The Reservoir has been stocked with fingerlings for three consecutive years for good fish catch. Four Primary Fishery Co- operative Societies have been formed with Displaced Persons as members and provided with motorized boats and nets.
