Question : POWER GENERATION CAPACITY



(a) whether the average power generation capacity of thermal power sets manufactured by the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited is comparatively more;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the average capacity of power generation in the country which are being utilised by the National Thermal Power Corporation at present;

(d) whether the Government propose to replace the thermal power sets; and

(e) if so, the number of phases in which this process is likely to be completed?

(a) & (b): The average Plant Load Factor (PLF) of thermal generating sets supplied by BHEL during 1999-2000 was 68.3% as against national average of 67.3%.

(c): The thermal generating sets supplied by BHEL to NTPC achieved a PLF of 81.7% during 1999-2000, while the same for other than BHEL sets has been about 76%. The overall PLF of coal based thermal plants of NTPC for 1999-2000 was 80.39%.

(d) & (e): There is no proposal for replacement of power generating units at present.
