Question : DAMS IN NEPAL



(a) whether Nepal has constructed big dams in the areas bordering India;

(b) if so, whether the Government of Nepal has provided information to the Government of India about the construction of the said dams;

(c) if so, the details about starting point and ending point of these dams and the total length thereof;

(d) whether Eastern districts in Uttar Pradesh including Lakhimpur have been affected by flood during the last four years due to the construction of the said dams by the Government of Nepal; and

(e) if so, the action taken thereon?

(a) The Ministry has no information about construction of big dams by Nepal in the areas bordering India.

India has well-established bilateral mechanism with Nepal for water resources development in the rivers coming from Nepal to India for mutual benefits of the two nations, where, related issues are discussed.

(b) to (e ) These questions do not arise, in view of (a) above.
