(a) whether any request/representation has been received from the State Government of Kerala for more Central assistance under the scheme ofmodernisation of police force; and
(b) if so, the details thereof along with the reaction of the Government in this regard?

(a)& (b) Yes, Madam. Request/demand of additional allocation of Rs.11 crore was received from the State Government of Kerala, under the Modernisaiton of Police Force(MPF) Scheme, towards the end of financial year 2014-15. Under this Scheme, the State Government of Kerala had approved central allocation of Rs.14.94 crore during FY:2015-16, out which an amount of Rs. 2.01 crore had been released to Ordnance Factory Board for supply of weaponry to the State Police. The balance amount could not be released to the State for want of Utilisation Certificates in respect of the past releases. Further, during the FY:2015-16, State Action Plan with central allocation of Rs. 14.94 crore has been approved for the FY 2016-17 for modernisation of Police in Kerala state.
