(a) & (b) : The Government has introduced a scheme for setting up of Village Haat
(GrameenHaats)under SGSY during 2009 that would help rural artisans to promote marketing of
their products. Under the scheme, the Government provides assistance to the States upto `15
lakhs for creation of Village Haats at the rate of 3 per district. The amount will be shared
between the Central and State government in the ratio of 75:25 (for NE States, in the ratio of
90:10). So far funds have been released (including administrative approval) as first instalment for
construction of 1647 Village Haats in 549 districts of 29 States/UTs since inception. Second
instalment has been released for construction of 714 village haats in 238 districts.
As far as the State of Bihar is concerned, first instalment of Central Share for setting up
of three village haatseach has been released to DRDA of 37 districts. So far, second instalment
of Central Share has been released in respect of 87 Village Haatsin 14 districts ofBihar. No
proposal for second instalment has been received from 8 districts. In respect of balance 15
DRDA, the information received from the Government of Bihar is incomplete.
