(a) the total funds allocated/released to acpjeve targets under various schemes for Women and Child Development Programme during the Ninth Plan and the current fiscal ye3!, State-wise;

(c) if not, whether the Government p`ropose to enhance it during the Tenth Five Year Plan; and

Statement in respect of (a), (b), (c) and (d) of Lok Sabha Starred Question No. 139 for 23.7.2002 regarding allocation of funds under Women and Child Development programmes during Ninth Plan.

An amount of Rs. 6555.95 crores was allocated under Various schemes for women and child development during the Ninth Five Year Plan, out of which an amount of Rs. 6249.72 crores was spent. Details of allocation, expenditure and achievements on the major schemes of the Department of Women and Child Development during the Ninth Five Year Plan is at Annexure - I & II. The State-wise allocation under ICDS, which is the major scheme of the Department, is at Annexure - III.

The outlay for Tenth Plan has been significantly stepped up to Rs. 13,600 Crores. The allocation for the year 2002-03 is Rs. 2200 crores.

Further details of scheme-wise, state-wise, year-wise allocation and expenditure on these programmes are provided in the Annual Reports of the Department of Women & Child Development.
