(a) The quantum and value of wind equipment and spare exported during the last three years
are at annexure.
(b) India has not yet acquired the status of a major exporter of wind equipment.
(c) India has been exporting the products to the countries like Kenya, USA, Pakistan, Singapore,
European Union countries, Australia, New Zealand, etc.
(d) As one of the major initiatives to promote power generation through renewable source of
energy, the Government has reduced the basic Customs Duty to 5% on permanent magnet, which is a
major component for wind power project. Further, the Ministry of Renewable Energy, Government of
India, has fixed a target of 10500 MW wind power during the 11th Five-year Plan, which is expected
to promote the production of wind equipments in the country and will also help in domestic
supplies as well as enhancing exports.
