(a) whether the Government have identified the cities in the country which are facing ecological disaster;

(b) if so, the details thereof, State-wise; and

(c) the action initiated to maintain ecological balance in those cities ?

(a)&(b) Considering the nature and extent of pollution, 24 problem areas have been identified in different parts of the country. A State-wise list of these areas is enclosed.


(c) Action plans for improvement of environment have been prepared and are in various stages of implementation.
