STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (f) OF THE UNSTARRED QUESTION NO.3341 BY
SHRI K.C. SINGH âBABAâ TO BE ANSWERED IN LOK SABHA ON 15-04-2010 REGARDING RAILWAY PROJECTS
IN UTTARKHAND.
(a) to (d): The details of ongoing projects in Uttarakhand with target date of completion
wherever fixed are given as under:

New Line:
1. Deoband (Muzzaffarnagar)- Detailed estimate sanctioned. Land acquisition has Roorkee (27.45 km) been taken up. Tender for major bridges have been awarded.
2. Kichha-Khatima (57.7 km) Part detailed estimate sanctioned. The work is not progressing as State Government of Uttrakhand has not handed over the land to Railway which is to be provided free of cost by them as per commitment.
3. Rishikesh-Karanprayag The work has been included in the Budget 2010-11. (125.09 km)
Gauge Conversion
4. Bhojipura-Pilibhit-Tanakpur Earthwork, bridge work etc. have been taken up. (101.8 km)
5. Kanpur-Kasganj-Mathura- This project partly falls in the State of Uttrakhand Bareilly-Lalkaun (545 km) where work is progressing satisfactorily and the section is planned to be commissioned in 2010-11.
The projects are being progressed as per the availability of resources.
(e): Request has been received from Chief Minister, Uttarakhand for expediting ongoing projects
of Deoband-Roorkee, Khichha-Khatima new lines and Bareilly-Tanakpur gauge conversion. Request has
also been made for taking up new lines Tanakpur-Bageshwar, Rishikesh-Karanprayag and Dehradun-Kalsi
and Electrification of Laksar-Dehradun.
(f): Efforts are being made to generate additional funds for expediting completion of projects.
