Question : Production from Energy Plants

(a) whether energy plants for generating electricity, biogas, bio-CNG from solid waste are functioning across the country and if so, the details thereof along with the quantum of production/generation from these plants, State-wise;
(b) whether the Government proposes to set up certain new energy plants;
(c) if so, the details thereof; and
(d) the details of number of plants proposed to be set up in Jammu & Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar?

(a) A total of 219 Waste-to-Energy plants with aggregate capacity of 373.5 MWeq
have been set up in the country to generate electricity or biogas or BioCNG from urban, industrial, agricultural waste/residues and municipal solid waste. The State-wise details of waste-to-energy plants set up, as on 31.12.2020, are given in Annexure.

(b) to (d) The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, under “Programme on Energy from Urban, Industrial, Agricultural Wastes/ Residues and Municipal Solid Waste” provides assistance, including financial assistance to developers for setting up of Waste to Energy plants which produce Biogas or BioCNG or Power from Urban, Industrial and Agricultural Waste / Residues and municipal solid waste. As on 29.01.2021, under this Programme, this Ministry has issued sanction of CFA of Rs 48 Cr to 16 new Waste to Energy projects, with cumulative installed capacity of 15.12 MWeq, located in the States of Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh.
