Question : Development and Promotion of New Tourist Spots in Jharkhand

(a) whether the Government has identified new tourist spots in the country during the last three years for their expansion, beautification and upgradation for the development and promotion of tourism;
(b) if so, the details thereof along with the locations where new tourist spots have been developed during last three years and the amount spent thereon, State/UT-wise including Jharkhand and Bihar;
(c) the steps taken/being taken by the Government to improve connectivity and other facilities at the existing and proposed new tourist destinations in Jharkhand, Bihar and rest of the country;
(d) whether the Government proposes to develop these new places along with the existing tourist places to promote tourism in the country; and
(e) if so, the details thereof along with the action taken to develop the tourism sector in various States of the country, State/UT-wise?

(a) to (e): Identification of new tourism spots for development is primarily the responsibility of the concerned State Governments/Union Territory (UT) Administrations. The Ministry of Tourism, however, under the schemes of Swadesh Darshan and PRASHAD, provides central financial assistance to State Governments/UT Administrations for development of tourism infrastructure in the country, for the projects identified in consultation with them, subject to submission of project proposals, their adherence to relevant scheme guidelines, submission of suitable detailed project reports, availability of funds and utilization of funds released earlier.

The details of projects sanctioned by the Ministry under the above schemes during 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 is given at the Annexure.

To improve connectivity at the tourist destinations, the Ministry, under the above schemes, provides funds for last mile connectivity, construction of heliports, passenger terminals, jetties etc. The Ministry also, from time to time, takes up the issue of connectivity of various areas with other line Ministries and departments like MoRTH, NHAI, M/o Railways, MOCA etc. through the forums of National Steering Committee of Swadesh Darshan and PRASHAD Schemes.
