(a) whether the Government of Telangana has linked works relating to the restoration of lakes with Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in view of the acute drought conditions prevailing there; and
(b) if so, the details thereof and the works taken up so far?

(a) & (b):Yes, Madam. As informed by State Government of Telangana, the works relating to restoration of lakes (M.l.Tank) have been taken up by them under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). Since inception to till date, 20983 works have been sanctioned with an estimated cost of Rs.1364.05 crore. Out of 20983 works, 14883 works have been completed generating 13.25 crore of persondays. 6100 works are in progress in Telegana. The in-progress works are proposed to be completed in the financial year 2015-16.
