(a) Government has set up a National Mission on Monuments and Antiquities for documentation
of built heritage and antiquities. The Mission also envisages conservation of selected
unprotected monuments.
(b) The scope of the National Mission includes :-
1. Preparation of a National Register of Built Heritage, Sites and Antiquities.
2. Setting up State Level data bases on built heritage, sites and antiquarian wealth.
3. Promotion of awareness programme on heritage conservation.
4. Training and upgradation of skills of State Archaeology Departments, NGO’s and Museum
staff, and
5. Conservation of selected unprotected monuments.
