Question : DROUGHT CONDITION IN HARYANA



(a) whether drought relief compensations have been disbursed amongst the farmers in various States of the country;

(b) if so, whether the Government are aware that in Haryana Re.1 or Rs.3.50 per acre has been disbursed to the farmers as drought relief;

(c) whether the farmers in the State have incurred an expenditure of Rs.3000 to Rs.5000/- per acre on sowing; and

(d) if so, the relief amount/ foodgrains distributed by the Union Government amongst the States for providing relief to the farmers reeling under drought during 2001-2002?

(a): Distribution of relief at the ground level is the responsibility of the State Government concerned.

(b) & (c): No report in this regard has been received from the Government of Haryana.

(d): Rs.34.62 crores from National Calamity Contingency Fund(NCCF) was provided to Madhya Pradesh for the drought of 2001-02. In addition, 34.32 lakh MTs of foodgrains under the Food for Work Programme (FFWP) were allocated to the drought affected States during 2001-02 for relief employment.
