Question : PORT COMMITTEE

(a) whether the Government has issued any instruction to float tenders for port related works and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether the Government has dissolved port advisory committees of major ports in the country and if so, the details thereof along with the reasons therefor;

(c) whether the instances of gross financial irregularities have been reported from the ports in the country; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and the steps taken by the Government?

(a) Yes, Madam. As per extant guidelines, works/ projects in Major Ports are awarded through an open tendering process.

(b) The 11 Major Port Trusts have been requested not to proceed with the functioning of the existing Advisory Committees in order to decide about their reconstitution.

(c) No, Madam.
