Question : CRIMES IN DELHI



(a) whether some criminals were killed in an encounter with the police on March 26, 2000

(b) if so, the details in this regard;

(c) the number of such criminals and goons active in Delhi;

(d) the action taken to apprehend such goons and criminals; and

(e) the number of criminals and goons apprehended, injured or killed during each of the last three years, till date ?

(a)&(b): Yes, Sir. A desperate gangster wanted by the police of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi and his two associates were killed in an encounter with Delhi Police on 26th March, 2000. One AK-56 rifle, one 0.455 bore revolver and one 0.45pistol alongwith 21 spent and 11 live cartridges were recovered from them.

(c): As per the available information eleven such gangs are suspected to be operating in the National Capital Territory of Delhi.

(d): The steps taken to apprehend such desperate and hardened gangsters include interaction with State Police and Central Police Organisations for exchange of information/intelligence; setting up of a special inter-State Cell under Crime Branch of Delhi Police; and close watch on those suspected to have earlier given shelter to such criminals.
