Question : Tide over Allocation of Wheat

(a) whether the Government has discontinued the tide over allocation of wheat to the State of Kerala; and

(b) if so, the reasons therefor?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (b) OF THE STARRED QUESTION NO.46 DUE FOR ANSWER ON 20.07.2022 IN THE LOK SABHA.

(a) to (b): In order to ensure management of foodgrain stocks as per norms, to position rice stock for distribution of fortified rice, to ease the pressure on logistics and after due consultations with States/UTs, this Department had revised the wheat & rice ratio without changing the over all allocation under NFSA for 12 States/UTs including Kerala. This has been done for 10 months i.e. June, 2022 to March, 2023. For Kerala, under tide-over category, an equivalent quantity of rice has been allocated in lieu of wheat, for the period upto March, 2023.
