(a) whether the Government proposes to restrict/ban the entry of targe marine companies/MNCs into the fishery sector and give small fishermen the first right to utilize the marine wealth of the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the details of the schemes for assisting fishermen in the country and the allocation made therein during each of the last three years and the current year. State wise?

(a) & (b) No, Madam. The small fishermen primarily fish in the coastal waters i.e upto 12 nautical miles from the shore line of the coastal states. The State Governments have jurisdiction over the coastal waters. Central Government has jurisdiction over Exclusive Economic Zone {EEZ} beyond 12 nautical miles .Letter of Permission (LOPs) is issued to Indian Deep Sea Fishing Vessels (DSFVs) to fish in EEZ.

(c): Details of the Centrally Sponsored and Central Sector schemes for assisting fishermen in the country and the allocation made therein during each of the last three Fiscal Years and the current Fiscal Year is given below. The said schemes are demand driven and no specific allocations for the States is made.
