(a) whether the Government has assessed the success or failure of the existing reservation policy before deciding about the reservation of SCs, STs, OBCs etc. in the Private Sector;

(a), (b) & (c): After implementation of the reservation provisions, representation of SCs, STs and OBCs in services (excluding Safai Karmacharis) has increased. Representation of SCs and STs in Services has risen from 13.17% and 2.25% as on 1st January, 1965 to 16.52% and 6.46% respectively as on 1st January, 2003.
