(a) whether the Government is aware of a big Saudi Arabia like reservoir of crude oil and natural gas at Maharashtra and Gujarat sea belt and if so, the details thereof; and
(b) whether the research of reservoir of crude oil and natural gas have completed across the country and if so, the details thereof along with the status of research report in this regard?

(a) As on 01.04.2015, 542 million metric tonnes (MMT) of oil and oil equivalent of gas in place reserves of hydrocarbons have been discovered in the offshore along Maharashtra and Gujarat offshore under Production Sharing Contract (PSC) Regime
(b): Exploration of oil & natural gas is a dynamic process and is continuing across various sedimentary areas in the country. Until now, In-place hydrocarbon volume of 11,235 million metric tonnes (MMT) of oil and oil equivalent gas has been established through exploration by ONGC, OIL and Private/JV companies
