Question : LECTURES ORGANISED FOR SENIOR OFFICERS



(a) whether the Department of Administrative Reforms has been conducting series of lectures on `Ideas that have worked` to the senior level Government officers only;

(b) if so, the philosophy behind it;

(c) the level of officers who have been invited to attend these lectures and their percentage of turn-out; and

(d) the steps proposed to be taken to make it more effective by conducting such programme on working days to improve the attendance?

(a), (b) & (c): The Lecture series on `Ideas that have worked` is being jointly organised by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Government of India, Civil Services Officers` Institute and Government of Andhra Pradesh. The object behind organising this series of lectures is to acquaint the participants with the ideas and experiences of distinguished personalities in their areas of excellence, and to cause officers to build on successes. Besides senior officers of the Government of India, members of the Civil Services Officers` Institute and nominees of Government of Andhra Pradesh, Heads of a few selected Public Sector Undertakings, distinguished media personalities, faculty members and trainees of the apex central training Institutes etc. have also been invited to attend. No data relating to the turn-out of the invitees has been maintained.

(d): The lectures are being organised on Saturdays with a view to ensuring availability and taking into account the convenience of eminent personalities as well as of the invitees.
