Question : COAL STOCK



(a) whether a study has been conducted between the figures given in the book-stock and physical stock of coal in the subsidiaries of CIL;

(b) if so, the details thereof ?

(c) whether any manipulating stock and production are maintained to cover up the coal shortage in depots due to pilferage or to make up loss of the targeted coal production;

(d) if so, the details thereof;

(e) the reasons for the ECL has been referred to B.I.F.R; and

(f) the fate of the employees of ECL?

Considering tolerance up to (+)/(-) 5% due to human error, instrumental error etc., CIL has studied each mine and estimated stock shortage as 1.16 lakh tonnes in ECL, 2.22 lakh tonnes in BCCL, and 0.02 lakh tonnes in CCL during the year 1999-00.

(c): No, Sir.

(d) Does not arise in view of reply to part (c) above.

(e) ECL has been declared as sick company under Section 3(1)(O) of SICA Act, 1985 as the net worth of the company has become negative. The net worth of ECL as on 31.3.2000 was Rs. (-) 730.11 crores.

(f) There is no adverse effect on the employees of ECL, at present.
