Question : PENSION SCHEME FOR EMPLOYEES OF UNIVERSITIES



(a) whether the Punjab University had forwarded to the Government a pension scheme for its employees;

(b) if so, salient features thereof:

(a) Yes, Sir.

(b) The salient features of the `Panjab University Employees` Pension Scheme, 1999` are annexed.

(c) and (d): Ministry of Finance (Department of Expenditure) has not agreed to the proposal for introduction of Panjab University Employees Pension Scheme, 1999.

3.12.2002 ASKED BY SHRI PAWAN KUMAR BANSAL. M.P. REGARDING `PENSION SCHEME FOR EMPLOYEES OF UNIVERSITIES’
`1. Regulations will come into force w.e.f. 1st April, 1998 i.e. shall be applicable to those who retired on or after 31st March, 1998.

2 These regulations shall apply to all the employees who joined/join service under the Panjab University on or after 2nd October, 1993.

3 All those employees who joined the University service before 2,10.1993 and continue to be in the service of the University on the date of enforcement of these Pension Regulations shall also be governed by the Pension Scheme under these Regulations unless any such employee expressly opts not to be governed by the Pension Scheme under these Regulations.

4. The employees retiring on or after 31.3.1998 but before the date of notification of these Regulations shall be entitled to the Pension from the date of such notification and shall not be entitled to arrears on account of pension from the date of retirement to the date of notification`
