Question : GROWTH OF COMPUTER SOFTWRE SERVICES

(a) whether the computer software services have registered enomous growth during the current financial year;

(b) if so, the details thereof alongwith the growth rate of hardware exports;

(c) the details of targets fixed for export of computer hardware for the current financial year; and

(d) the achievements made so far?

(a) and (b): As per NASSCOM (National Association of Software and Services Companies) the Indian IT-ITES sector (including the domestic and exports segments) is expected to exceed US$ 47.8 billion in annual revenue in Financial Year 2007, an increase of nearly 28 percent in the current fiscal year.

As per the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) Export of Electronics Hardware has registered a growth of 41.18 percent in Rupee terms (38.89 percent in US$ terms) during the period April 2006 to December 2006 over the corresponding period in the previous financial year.

(c) and (d): As per ESC target set for total Export of Electronics Hardware is Rs. 11500 crores (US$ 2556 million) for the current financial year. The target set for export of Electronics Hardware for the current financial year was achieved by 83.48 percent as on December 2006.
