Question : Espionage Network

(a) whether the Government is aware that most of the officers and staff posted at Pakistan High Commission, New Delhi are running an espionage network as revealed by various Indian Intelligence agencies;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government proposes to keep extra vigil on each and every person posted by Pakistan in its High Commission in India and also persons visiting the High Commission; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and the other steps the Government proposes to take including taking up the matter with the Government of Pakistan?

(a & b) Some of the Staff posted in Pakistan High Commission (PHC), New Delhi are suspected to be involved in running espionage network. Recently an official of PHC, New Delhi was apprehended by Delhi Police who was consequently declared Persona-non-Grata (PNG) by the India authorities.
(c & d) The Government is taking adequate steps to counter such incidents in future. The Government is resolutely committed to take all necessary steps to ensure the security of the nation and the safety of our citizens.
