Question : NATIONAL HIGHWAYS IN U.P. .

:

(a) the total number of National Highways in Uttar Pradesh constructed during the last three years;

(b) the details of expenditure incurred thereon during the said period;

(c) the targets fixed for the National Highways with regard to the State during the Eighth Five Year Plan and to extent to which the same have been achieved ; and

(d) the amount of money earmarked for the New National Highways and maintenance work of the existing National Highways in U.P. for the Ninth Five Year Plan ?

(a) & (b) 22 Nos. of National Highways in the State of U.P. were Developed and maintained during the last three years. The expenditure incurred thereon during the last three years is indicated as under:-

(c) & (d) Provision of Rs. 323.65 crores was made in the Eighth Five Year Plan 1992-97 for construction of road and bridge works. Against this road and bridge works, amounting to Rs.317.79 crores were sanctioned. Funds are not provided National Highway-wise, but to the State as a whole for development of all the NHs. In the Ninth Five Year Plan 1997-2002 an outlay of Rs.761.55 crores has been tentatively fixed. Funds for the maintenance of NHs are provided year-wise and not collectively for a Five Year Plan period.
