Question : Relief Package to Promote Fisheries

(a) whether the Government is considering to provide any relief package to promote fisheries and to compensate for the loss suffered during the last six months in view of corona virus pandemic and if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether the Government is considering to provide any special facility to various States including Assam, Haryana and North-Eastern States in this regard; and
(c) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (c): The Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying has launched a flagship scheme namely Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana(PMMSY) as a part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat Covid-19 relief package with an estimated investment of Rs. 20,050 crores for implementation in all the States/Union Territories over a period of 5 years from FY 2020-21 to FY 2024-25. The Scheme is being implemented in all the States and Union Territories including Assam, Haryana and North Eastern States. In addition, during the Covid-19 pandemic, in order to assist the fishers/fish farmers/fish workers/fish vendors, the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Guidelines dated 10th April 2020 also allowed operations of the fishing(marine)/aquaculture industry including feeding & maintenance, harvesting, processing, packaging, cold chain, sale and marketing, hatcheries, feed plants, commercial aquaria, movement of fish/shrimp and fish products, seed/feed and workers.
