Question : TEACHERS FOR HANDICAPPED IN KVS



(a) whether Kendriya Vidyalayas are not having specially trained teachers in many of the schools for differently abled children;

(b) if so, the total number of such children in Kendriya Vidyalayas, and the number of specially trained teachers required;

(c) whether the Government is planning to recruit specially trained teachers; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (d) At present, Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) do not have special teachers to teach differently abled children. The exact number of differently abled children in KVs is not available.However,as on 31.3.2010,there were 1918 physically challenged children in KVs.Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan does not have estimate of the number of special teachers required in KVs. It has constituted a committee of experts to finalise tools for identifying differently abled children and to work out the need for special teachers.
