(a) & (b): As per census 2011, slum population of undivided Andhra Pradesh was 1,01,86,934. The State Government of Andhra Pradesh has reported that there are 55.98 lakhs slum dwellers in Andhra Pradesh after separation of Telangana from the State.
(c): For rehabilitation of slum dwellers in the State of Andhra Pradesh, pucca houses are constructed under Affordable Housing in Partnership and In-situ Slum Rehabilitation components of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). Under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Urban Livelihood Mission (DAY-NULM), Identity Cards, financial support and training are provided to the identified street vendors for self-employment. Further, as reported by the State of Andhra Pradesh, all the Urban Local Bodies has to utilize at least 40% of their budget in slum areas for providing roads, water supply, toilet, sanitation, drainage and other infrastructure facilities.
(d) to (f): Census is a decadal exercise that takes place in the year ending with ‘1’. Last Census was conducted in the year 2011 and the next is due in 2021. As regards survey of slums between two censuses, it is informed that the latest such survey was conducted by National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) during its 69th round (July – December 2012) as per which estimated number of slums and slum households were 4,539 and 15,98,659 respectively in the State of Andhra Pradesh (including Telangana).
