Question : Handloom Cluster in Maharashtra

(a) whether there is any proposal to set up handloom cluster in Maharashtra;

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the details of the funds allocated in this regard and the locations thereof;

(c) if not, the reasons therefor; and

(d) the reaction of the Government thereto?

(a) to (d): 6 Block Level Clusters (BLCs) have been sanctioned under National Handloom Development Programme (NHDP) on the basis of viable proposals recommended by State Government of Maharashtra to extend financial assistance for implementation of various interventions like Product Development, setting up of Common Facility Centre (CFC), design inputs, construction of workshed, purchase of technological up-gradation items (looms/accessories), lighting units, skill up-gradation etc. Details of location of BLCs sanctioned with total cost, Government of India share and funds released during last three years and current year (till date) are as under:-
