Question : DEFUNCT EQUIPMENT IN HOSPITALS



(a) whether the Government is aware that medical equipment are lying defunct for the last several months in the Government hospitals of Delhi;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor;

(c) the steps taken by the Government to make these equipment operational;

(d) whether responsibility has been fixed for such irregularities during the last two years and the current year; and

(e) if so, the details thereof and the action taken against those found guilty in this regard?

(a) to (e) Since Health is a State subject this Ministry is not maintaining information in respect of equipments lying defunct in the hospitals of the Govt. of NCT of Delhi. So far as the Central Govt. hospitals viz Safdarjung Hospital concerned, costly and life saving equipments are either under guarantee/warranty period or under Annual Maintenance Contract. Appropriate measures have been taken for procurement of spares whenever required.

No case of negligence against any of the officers of the Central Government hospitals has been reported.
