Question : NEW DIVISION AT GULBARGA

(a) whether the Railways propose to establish new Division at Gulbarga;

(b) if so, the details and the present status thereof along with the areas proposed to be included thereunder;

(c) whether the Railways have received any representations against the inclusion of certain areas including Secunderabad under Gulbarga Division; and

(d) if so, the details thereof along with the action taken thereon by the Railways?

(a): Yes, Madam. While replying to the discussions held in the course of presentation of the Interim Budget of Railways 2014-15 in Rajya Sabha on 18.02.2014, the Hon’ble Minister of Railways had made an announcement to create three new divisions, including one at Gulbarga.

(b): Action has been initiated for creation of a new division with head-quarters at Gulbarga. At present, the below mentioned existing and new sections (Sanctioned works in progress) are planned for inclusion in this new division:

 1. Existing Sections Wadi (including) – Vikarabad (excluding) Wadi(excluding) – Raichur (including) Wadi (including) – Hotgi(excluding) Hotgi(excluding)– Bagalkot (including) 2. New sections (Sanctioned works in progress) Raichur (including)-Ginigera(excluding) Gulbarga(including)-Khanapur(excluding) Wadi (including) –Gadag(excluding)
