Question : Employment in Organised- Unorganised-Private Sector

(a) whether the Government maintains statistics about employment in private sector, organized and unorganized sectors;

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the details of employment provided in organized and unorganized sectors during the last three years and the current year, year-wise, sector-wise and State-wise;

(c) if not, the reasons therefor and the efforts made by the Government to collect statistics of employment in organized and unorganized sectors; and

(d) the details of the number of people who have gone abroad for employment during the said period, State/UT-wise and year-wise?

(a) to (c) As per the results available in the annual household Survey on Employment and Unemployment conducted by Labour Bureau, Ministry of Labour & Employment, the broad macro economic sector-wise distribution of employed persons is as follows:

In addition as per the results of last three available surveys on Employment and Unemployment Surveys(EUS) conducted by Labour Bureau, the estimated Worker Population Ratio (WPR) based on Usual and Principal Subsidiary Status (UPSS) approach for persons aged 15 years and above was 51.0% in 2012-13, 53.7% in 2013-14 and 50.5% in 2015-16. State/UT wise details is given at Annexure-I .

(d): The Ministry of External Affairs maintains the data in respect of Emigration Check Required (ECR) passport holders, travelling legally to any of the 18 ECR countries for overseas employment. The 18 countries namely are United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Malaysia, Lebanon, Bahrain, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Thailand, Yemen, Libya, South Sudan. The number of people gone abroad during the period 2016-2018 State-wise is placed at Annexure II
