Question : Medical Assistance and Support to Workers

(a)whether the Ministry has some scheme to provide medical assistance and support for occupational diseases induced by workers working in sandstone, limestone calcareous mines, etc.;
(b)if so, the details thereof;
(c)the number of people affected by the disease who have benefited from the scheme in the last five years and if so, the details thereof; and
(d)the number of cases of mine-related incidents which have come to notice from Rajasthan Udaipur, Pali, Uttar Pradesh including Mohan Lalganj?

(a) & (b): Ministry of Labour & Employment provides welfare to the Beedi/Cine/Iron Ore/Manganese Ore/Chrome Ore/Limestone and Dolomite Mine Workers through Labour Welfare Scheme. Under this scheme, healthcare facilities are provided to the beneficiaries through 10 Hospitals and 286 Dispensaries. Besides healthcare facilities, reimbursement of expenditure for specialized treatment taken under Government recognized Hospitals in case of the following critical disease are made:-

Cancer Reimbursement of actual expenses on treatment, medicines and diet charges incurred by workers, or their dependents.
Tuberculosis
Reservation of beds in T.B. Hospitals and domiciliary treatment for workers. Subsistence allowance of Rs.750/- to Rs.1000/- p.m. is granted as per the advice of the treating physician.
Heart Diseases Reimbursement of expenditure up to Rs.1,30,000/- to workers.
Kidney Transplantation Reimbursement of expenditure up to Rs.2,00,000/- to workers.
Hernia, Appendectomy, Ulcer Gynaecological diseases and Prostrate diseases Reimbursement of expenditure up to Rs.30,000/- to workers and their dependents.


(c): Details of number of persons who have benefitted from the scheme are not maintained centrally.


(d): The number of mine related diseases i.e. Silicosis which have come to notice from Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh during calendar year 2016 to 2020 is given below:
